Cuthbert, Ga. – The Andrew College music program recently received a generous gift and a new name. Mr. Richard B. and Mrs. (Sherrie) Taylor recently made a contribution to the college for the music department. The music building, located on Peachtree Street in downtown Cuthbert, is part of the campus of Andrew College and it will now be known as the Richard B. Taylor Music Center. Richard is a native of Cuthbert and a 1971 cum laude graduate of Andrew College. He later attended the University of Georgia where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. The arts are important to the Taylor family as Sherrie was a former professional ballerina and their son Andrew is an aspiring musician. A ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony was held as part of the Arts ‘Round the Square Event this spring. Taylor’s son Andrew performed musical selections with Assistant Music Professor Dr. Dan Kolan as part of the festivities. During the ceremony, Richard spoke of his love for Andrew College and the area. Taylor has served as a trustee of Andrew College since 2011. The Andrew College community and its music students are grateful for the generosity and support of the Taylor family.
The goal of the music department at Andrew College is to provide a nurturing, yet challenging, environment for music students to develop their skills.
