Pitts Scholarship Competition

Andrew College created the Pitts Scholarship Competition to reward high-achieving high school students with the opportunity to compete for full academic scholarships. The Pitts Scholarship Competition is usually held between February and March.

For 2025, Andrew College will award two full scholarships to incoming freshmen through the Pitts Academic Scholarship Competition.

  • TBD-Application, transcript, and letter of recommendation due.
  • TBD-Top 15 candidates notified.
  • TBD-Scholarship winners selected.

Eligibility: Entering freshmen (students having college credit through a dual enrollment/joint enrollment program are still eligible)

Qualifications:

  • TBD or higher GPA in a college preparatory curriculum
  • Record of leadership and/or service to school, community, or church

Process:

PHASE ONE:

To complete the admission process, the following materials must be submitted by TBD.

    • Admission application (apply to Andrew College)
    • Click here to apply to the Pitts Scholarship Competition
    • Transcripts (uploaded during the Pitts Scholarship application process)
    • College transcripts from any dual enrollment/joint enrollment coursework (uploaded during the Pitts Scholarship application process)
    • A letter of recommendation detailing your record of leadership from a teacher, administrator, coach, community leader, pastor, etc. (uploaded during the Pitts Scholarship application process)

PHASE TWO:

Students who are selected to move on to the next round of the competition will be emailed:

    • A link to register for their Zoom Interview time
    • The prompt for the writing sample with a due date.

Virtual Interview: Andrew College will be using Zoom as the main platform for the virtual competition. Access to Zoom, a camera, and a microphone on either a PC or smartphone will be needed to participate. If you are selected, you will receive a link to schedule your Zoom Interview.

Judging Criteria for all phases of competition:

    • GPA
    • Record of leadership and/or service to school, community, or church
    • The selection process (competition) includes a writing sample and an interview with faculty and staff if you are one of the top 15 candidates selected to advance to Phase Two.

Students will receive a score for each part of the competition. The cumulative high school GPA is factored into the scoring, and the other scored components include a virtual interview and a writing sample for the top 15 candidates.

*The aid will not exceed the direct cost of tuition.  Any state or federal-based aid will be applied before any scholarship.

Fine Arts Scholarship Auditions

Auditions/Presentations for the Andrew College Fine Arts Scholarship will be held on campus this year, beginning Monday, January 23.  Please read the important information below pertaining to scheduling you audition/presentation:

Students may, as an alternative, elect to record their auditions/presentations and send them to the appropriate professor via their e-mail address below.   These auditions should follow the guidelines provided on the website (music) or the appropriate attachment for the other areas:

Important Notes

All students auditioning or presenting their portfolio must be accepted by Andrew College in order to receive a scholarship offer.  Ideally this should be done prior to the student’s audition date.

Scholarship amounts range up to $5,000 and students receiving an award are also eligible to be considered for most other institutional aid and scholarship programs offered at Andrew College.

You are encouraged, but not required, to major in an area of the arts.

Students may elect to audition in multiple areas if they wish.
