CUTHBERT, Ga. – Andrew College celebrated the unveiling and dedication of the newly renovated Dr. Karan Berryman Pittman Archive Room in Pitts Library on Friday, October 23, 2026. Named in honor of longtime librarian and former Academic Dean Dr. Karan Berryman Pittman, the space will serve as a dedicated home for preserving the College’s rich history and institutional legacy.
“Karan spent decades preserving the history of Andrew College,” said Dr. William Kennedy, Andrew College President. “Now we are ensuring that her name and contributions will forever be a part of that history.”
Renovations began in late September under the direction of Dr. Pittman, transforming an area of Pitts Library into a space designed to house and protect historical materials significant to Andrew College’s 172-year history.
The archive room will preserve a variety of institutional treasures, including historical books, textbooks, College yearbooks, archival collections, documents, and memorabilia that tell the story of Andrew College and the generations of students, faculty, and staff who have shaped its legacy.
“The archive room will be a valuable addition to Pitts Library, and there is no better person to name it after than Dr. Karan Pittman,” said Professor Katie Dodrill, Assistant Director of Library Services. “Dr. Pittman attended Andrew College and has served it in many capacities. She is well deserving of this honor.”
The October 23 dedication brought together members of the Andrew College community to celebrate the completion of the project and honor Dr. Pittman’s service to the institution.
The Dr. Karan Berryman Pittman Archive Room represents an investment in preserving Andrew College’s past while creating opportunities for future generations to explore and appreciate the institution’s history.
