Andrew College Theatre (A.C.T.) to present Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Uhry new dates

Driving Miss Daisy event updated

CUTHBERT, GA (November 6, 2023)-After postponing our October production due to unforeseeable circumstances, Andrew College Theatre is excited to announce the new performance dates for the beloved Southern play, Driving fv1iss Daisy by Alfred Uhry. Winner of the 1988 Pulitzer Prize, the play was turned into an Oscar-winning film with Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy. Set in Atlanta, the play traces the 25-year friendship between Daisy, a sharp-tongued Jewish widow, and Hoke, the thoughtful, unflappable African-American chauffeur hired by her son after she wrecks her car. The amusing and moving scenes between the three characters are set against the backdrop of the Atlanta Civil Rights movement. Evening performances are at 7:30 on Thursday, November 30, and Saturday, December 2.
One matinee for the general public is at 2:30 on Sunday, December 3. A school matinee will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 1. Schools may call the theatre program at (229) 732-5968 or email deborahlissgreen@andrewcollege.edu for information. All performances are in the Liddie Murphy Theatre in the Old Main Building, 501 College Street, Cuthbert, GA. There is no admission fee, but donations are welcome.
