Honors Program

The Honors Program provides opportunities for students to develop their academic and leadership potential, and to serve the college and community.  Participants in the program:

1.      Enroll in Honors courses across the Andrew College curriculum;
2.      Become part of a learning community through membership in Phi Theta Kappa and
          other campus  organizations devoted to academic excellence and service;
3.      Take advantage of special field trips and activities specific for honors students; and
4.      Enhance their prospects for transfer to a top university by completing the Honors
          Program curriculum and receiving a letter of recommendation from the president

Program and Course Requirements
As Honors Program participants, students must participate in at least one educational or service project each semester and take three honors courses within two years.  Honors Program courses are designed to strengthen analytical and communication skills, to promote independent research, and to facilitate scholarly exchange.  The following honors courses are among those offered at Andrew:

1.   English 111 – Rhetoric and Composition
2.   English 121 – World Literature
3.   Math 113 – Pre-calculus and trigonometry
4.   History 102 – Survey of World Civilization II
5.   History 106 – U.S. History since 1865
6.   Political Science 111 – Government of the United States

Program Eligibility
To be eligible for the Andrew Honors Program, current and prospective students must:

1.      Have earned a college prep high school diploma;
2.      Have scored at least 1000 on the SAT with at least a 460 in both verbal and math portions of the SAT;
3.      Have an evaluated high school GPA of 3.0 or higher;
4.      Be accepted to Andrew College with no conditions;
5.      Register for at least twelve semester hours; and
6.      Maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.
