Upward Bound
Andrew College's Upward Bound (UB) program is designed to assist high school students in developing reading writing, mathematical, science, and foreign language skills to the level appropriate for high school graduation and entry into college. The program focuses on developing students' motivation and self-confidence necessary for graduation from high school to higher education programs.
Upward Bound offers the following services:
Instruction
- In-school instruction with weekly topics/workshops, individual and group sessions
- Academic Saturday, focusing on mathematics, language arts, science, and history
- Summer Component - a six-week rigorous academic experience held on the Andrew College campus
- Weekly tutoring when needed in the core curriculum
- Bridge Program - a six-week residential program for graduates receiving college course work or credits
- Work Study - a "shadowing" work experience for participants during the Summer Component to gain greater insight concerning career opportunities
