Student Support Services

Student Support Services (SSS) assists students in reaching their full academic potential in college, prepares them to transfer to a four-year institution, and provides educational and life skills that will help them succeed in college and beyond.

Who is eligible?
In order to be eligible for Andrew College's Student Support Services Program, participants must qualify under certain income guidelines, be a first generation college student (mother and father did not graduate from a four-year college), or be an individual with a disability. Also, all participants must have an academic need determined by Andrew College.

What services are provided?
Academic Assistance - provides a comprehensive educational support plan
Supplemental Instruction - Professional tutor actually attends class with participants in order to provide additional instruction
Supplemental Peer Tutoring - Qualified peer tutor attends class with participants in order to provide additional academic assistance
Peer Mentoring - Assistance with transition from high school to college
Professional Tutoring - Writing Lab Coordinator and Math Specialist provided
Computer Assisted Instruction - Learning Plus, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, Encarta & Merriam Webster Vocabulary Builder
Financial Aid Counseling/Planning - FASFA application assistance, budget planning seminars, scholarship information
Career Counseling/Transfer Planning - Resume-writing, cultural and educational trips, transfer options assistance
Seminars and Workshops - Study skills, leadership, diversity, test-taking skills, Internet research, web-page creation
Writing Lab - Assistance with research papers and other writing assignments
Cultural/Educational Trips - Dramatic performances, educational tours, and cultural festivals
Summer Success Seminar - An intensive summer session designed for upcoming freshman students to help improve writing, reading, computer, math, time management, and study/research skills
