The Andrew College Police Department has been authorized by the President of Andrew College as the primary law enforcement agency on this campus. The Andrew College Police Department is recognized as a police agency by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council and its authority stems from Georgia law. The Andrew Police Department duty office is located in Fort Hall along the campus green on the northern end of campus.
As an institutional member of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) and the Georgia Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, the Department is in contact with other schools in the state and the nation to learn the most recent legislation, laws, criminal activity, and crime prevention information. Additionally the Andrew College Police Chief is a member of the International Association of Chief’s of Police, National Association of Chief’s of Police and the Georgia Association of Chief’s of Police. Andrew College Police has a 100% membership in the Peace Officers Association of Georgia.
The Andrew College Police Department is charged with the responsibilities of providing life, safety, and property protection. To meet these important responsibilities, the college maintains a force of 7 state certified officers whose duties are integrated to provide enforcement, crime prevention, and parking control/enforcement. Officers are on duty a minimum of 18 hours a day, five days a week and 10 hours on weekends. The department strives to contribute to the academic environment by performing professional enforcement tasks with a positive, service-oriented and educational approach.
The department maintains a close working and personal relationship with local emergency agencies and their members. The department maintains a written agreement with the City of Cuthbert Police Department and the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. |
