Other Sources of Financial Aid

The HOPE Scholarship - Students who are residents of the State of Georgia and who meet scholastic criteria may qualify for the HOPE Scholarship. Your High School will determine your eligibility for the HOPE Scholarship. The criteria are:

  2. Meet the Selective Service registration requirements.
  3. A freshman must be a 1996 or later high school graduate; have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; and have satisfied all requirements of the college preparatory curriculum.
  4. A freshman must a 1996 or later high school graduate; have a minimum of a 3.2 GPA in a vocational or general track curriculum. Graduates who do not meet all curriculum requirements of the college preparatory track must meet the higher GPA criteria.
  5. You may receive first-year HOPE assistance for the first 30 semester hours attempted.  However, you must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0* at the end of Spring term in order to continue your eligibility, unless you were enrolled for less than 12 hours for each term prior to and including Spring term.  If you are enrolled for less than 12 hours for each of your first three terms, you must have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0* at the end of the third term.

You may receive a HOPE Scholarship award of $3,000 per academic year if you are a full time student (12 hours).  Full time student attending eligible private colleges also may be eligible for a Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant.

You may renew the scholarship for your sophomore, junior, and senior years.  To do so you must:

  • Maintain a 3.0* cumulative grade point average for all coursework attempted (not just coursework completed) at each HOPE eligibility checkpoint.
  • Reapply for the scholarship by completing the appropriate forms as designated by the financial aid office at the institution you attend.
  • Be making Satisfactory Academic Progress.

* Andrew College ’s grading structure includes a forgiveness policy that allows a student to retake a course in which a grade of D or F is earned and only the higher grade is calculated in the student’s GPA.  The college also allows the assignment of +’s which carry higher quality points.  Calculation of HOPE eligibility GPA does not take into account either of these policies which can result in a higher Andrew College GPA than the GPA calculated for HOPE eligibility.  Therefore it is possible to have a 3.0 or higher Andrew College GPA but have a HOPE GPA below 3.0.  The Registrar’s Office can provide a student with a comparison between the two GPA’s upon request.

Please see the Georgia Student Finance website for more details regarding the HOPE Scholarship.
