Andrew College hosts Youth Rally

On Sunday, April 30 Andrew College hosted a youth rally at The Fish Camp in Albany, Ga. The Fish Camp is a brand new Christian day camp built by Mr. Larry Walden of First UMC in Albany. It is designed solely for events such as this.

Andrew College invited youth groups from all over Southwest Georgia to an event that boasted, “Free Food, Live Music, Inflatable Games, and Lots of Fun.” The rally began at 3:00 p.m. and ended at 8:00 p.m. that evening. The purpose of the event was twofold. First and foremost, the college wanted to host an event where teenagers could come and hang out in a fun, Christian environment. Secondly, the college wanted to get its name out there among our United Methodist teens.

The day was a great success. As teens arrived, they were greeted with the opportunity to sign up to win a free I-pod. After signing in, they could get wet on the giant slip and slide, join in a volleyball or basketball game, take part in team field games, play a round of Frisbee golf, or just hang out under the pavilion and eat popcorn and cotton candy. Following the games, two live bands performed under the pavilion. The day ended with a short time of worship in which the Andrew College Chaplain, Rev. Thad Haygood, gave the message.
