Focus on Ability Ceremony brings the community together
On Thursday, March 23, the AndrewServes servant-leadership program at Andrew College and the Randolph/Clay Developmental Disability Center teamed up to sponsor the Focus on Ability Ceremony on the Andrew campus. Over 100 members from the Andrew College and Cuthbert community were in attendance to demonstrate their support for this worthy cause.
The ceremony was held as part of Developmental Disability Awareness Month and it provided an opportunity to publicly recognize the accomplishments of 25 clients from the Center. Each client who has maintained steady employment in the community was presented with a certificate recognizing their accomplishments. Businesses and organizations in the community who are currently employing clients from the Center were also presented a certificate of appreciation.
“The outstanding turnout for this ceremony demonstrates the level of support and caring that our community has for individuals with developmental disabilities,” Rickey L. Jones, Director of the DD Center, said. “This ceremony meant a great deal to our clients and we are certainly hoping to make this an annual event.”
