| Sasnett named Coach of the Year
Following a very successful season for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams, Bart Sasnett, Andrew’s first-year Head Soccer Coach, was named Coach of the Year for Region XVII of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Sasnett is a 1998 graduate of
Andrew

and is a native of
Ft.

Beach
, where he played soccer at
Choctaw

under Coach Jim Kane.
In his first season, Sasnett led the Lady Tigers deep into the playoffs and took the Fighting Tigers to the championship match versus
Georgia
Perimeter
College
. The Fighting Tigers came up just one goal short of winning the region title. The men’s team finished the season with a 15-8 record and was nationally ranked throughout most of the year. The women’s team finished with a 14-7-1 record, and is expected to be top contender for the region title next season.
“Bart worked extremely hard this year to have his teams ready to play every game,” Jimmy Gilbert, Andrew’s Athletic Director, said. “He is truly a coach that players love to play for. His energy is contagious and he is passionate about this institution and its soccer program.”
Sasnett was presented with a trophy recognizing his accomplishment before Andrew’s championship match. “I give all of the credit to our players,” he said. “I’m proud of both teams for the heart and dedication they demonstrated throughout the season. Our focus now is to recruit freshmen players who can help us win the region next year.”
