AndrewServes has a positive impact on lives in southwest Georgia
Two months into the fall semester at Andrew College, the AndrewServes servant leadership program is making a difference in Cuthbert and surrounding communities. All students in the program perform community service hours while attending Andrew, in addition to taking leadership courses which help them develop their leadership skills and potential. AndrewServes students have participated in several major activities since the semester began and they continue to volunteer each week in a variety of community agencies.
On September 16, nine servant leader scholars volunteered at the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Flint River Chapter Habitat for Humanity in Albany, Ga. AndrewServes students assisted in building a home for a family in need.
On Monday, October 2, the AndrewServes students hosted its first blood drive of the year with the help of the American Red Cross. Over 35 people gave blood, which broke our record from last springs blood drive. Many members of the community, as well as, the faculty and staff at Andrew gave blood. It was a very successful drive and there are plans for another blood drive sometime in the spring.
In addition to participation in these activities, AndrewServes students have also begun volunteering through the Southwest Georgia Medical Center, The Willows of Cuthbert, The Millennium Center , one on one tutoring, and participated in the state wide ‘Hands on Georgia Week’, as well as, the state Special Olympi
