Community invited to attend art exhibition at Andrew College
The Andrew College Art Department invites the community to attend a reception for the first art exhibition of the semester on Monday, February 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Old Main Auditorium. The exhibition will feature the work of Andrew’s faculty and staff, including, Josie Moore, Marji Reese, Jimmy Gilbert, and John Bowen.
The art exhibition will be highlighted by works from Andrew’s new art professor, Nathaniel Allen. “My primary interest is drawing,” Allen said. “I like the immediate expressive quality that comes from making marks/lines on paper. My interest in painting is primarily an extension of my passion for drawing, with an additional emphasis on color and texture.”
“Some of my art is very realistic, some looks like comic books & advertisements, and sometimes I work completely abstractly,” Allen said. “Instead of trying to stick to a single style of working, I believe that artists should master a variety of techniques and use which ever ones express their ideas most honestly and effectively.”
The exhibition is free of charge and artists will be present to discuss their work with visitors. For more information about the exhibition, please contact Allen at 229.732.5988 or nathanielallen@andrewcollege.edu.
