THEATRE ARTS

Welcome to Andrew College Theatre (ACT!) Department!

Students who attend Andrew will have a vast, inclusive experience in ACT!’s company of thespians.  The courses offer training in acting, voice, stage movement, directing, lighting, and stagecraft.  Students can pursue studies toward the Associate of Arts in Theatre Arts, which transfers toward bachelor’s degrees in any theatre program, and depending upon interest, may elect to work toward certificates in Musical Theatre or in Film Technology. Students who do not choose to major in theatre may participate in the Theatre Department by auditioning for seasonal plays.

ACT’s touring company is for theatre majors only.  Students get a very real experience about the life of a touring thespian.  The touring company is an educational entertainment venue that brings short plays, theatre games, and playwriting workshops to a variety of high schools throughout the state of Georgia.

As a part of ACT student's also have the opportunity to participate in Georgia Theatre Conference and in Southeastern Theatre Conference. This opportunity allows the student to further their training and skills in the variety of classes and workshops offered at these conferences and it also allows for the possibility of summer theatre work.

Andrew College is an integral part of a film studio that is making history!

In association with the Jokara-Micheaux Film/Television Studio in Colquitt, Georgia, Andrew College offers a Certificate of Film Technology.  This certificate involves taking classes in camera, lights, sound, hair, make-up, wardrobe, scriptwriting, editing, acting for the camera, etc.  The facility where classes take place is remarkable.  The studio contains a large area for set construction and production, a video editing suite, a sound editing room, offices for wardrobe, make-up, and visiting producers.  Southwest Georgia’s film industry is growing by leaps and bounds.  Let Andrew College help you be a part of it
