The Educational Opportunity Center
The EOC is a federally funded TRiO Program that provides counseling and information on college admissions to qualified adults who want to enter or continue a program of postsecondary education.
EOC Mission Statement
The mission of the
Educational
Opportunity
Center
is to encourage adults who have dropped/stopped out of school to return to school or to pursue post secondary education options.
The EOC provides:
- Traditional and alternate learning programs
- Regularly scheduled post secondary education workshops
- Quarterly newsletters
- Financial aid resource information
- College Admissions Information
- Academic survival skills workshops
- Career/Personal counseling
- Tutoring
Goals of the EOC:
- To identify and select 1000 eligible participants, 67% will meet certain income standards and be first generation college students; the remaining 33% will be either first generation or meet certain income guidelines.
- To complete a comprehensive needs assessments of 100% of the newly admitted participants within three weeks of selection.
- At least 60% of the participants without a high school diploma will re-enter high school or complete a GED program.
- To assist at least 500 participants with financial aid and admissions applications each year.
- At least 100 of the participants will enter or re-enter a post secondary educational program each year.
- To provide a comprehensive program of services to meet the identified needs of all participants.
