The Andrew College Soccer program has a long history of success in the competitive Region XVII of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). In 2013, Andrew College committed to an return emphasis in its soccer program with hiring of Joao Garcia.
Mr. Joao Garcia is the new head coach of the Andrew College Men’s Soccer program. Garcia comes to Andrew having recently graduated from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida, where he also served as an assistant coach for the Men’s Soccer team. He spent one season with his alma mater before joining the Andrew coaching staff.
While in Florida, Garcia served as the head coach of three different teams, including the Alonzo & Tracy Mourning Senior High School team, which only lost three matches during its 2013 spring campaign. For his coaching efforts, he was named the Class 3A Coach of the Year. He has also worked as a counselor at Northwest Soccer Camp, based in Seattle, Washington, as well as a trainer and soccer specialist for two different club teams in 2012.
Collegiately, Garcia played at Barry for four years. He was a part of two Sunshine Conference Championships, as well as two regional finals appearances, and he was named team captain the final three years of his undergraduate career. Academically, Garcia earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Management. He is a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he attended Pontificia Universidade Catolica High School.
